How it works

Kybella is a new injectable treatment that melts away the excess fat that causes double chins. The substance is a man-made form of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring human material that helps the body absorb fat. Once injected it breaks up the membrane surrounding the fat cells. The fat breaks up, and the body reabsorbs it so that the liver can metabolize it. Once the cell is destroyed, it cannot come back. The result – permanent reduction in your double chin.

How many treatments will I need?

At the Body Contouring Center, we will create a tailored treatment plan based on your chin profile. At each treatment, you will be given multiple small injections under your chin. You may receive up to six treatment sessions, spaced at least one month apart. Many patients experience visible results in two to four Kybella treatments. 59% of patients received six treatments in clinical studies.

Does it work?

How long will results last?

Kybella accomplishes the permanent destruction of fat. Once it’s gone, it’s gone. You can accumulate more fat at a later time, but the effects last many years.

Is Kybella right for me?

Are there any possible side effects?

The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness and areas of hardness around the treatment area. Most of these resolve easily. Occasional more severe side effects such as trouble swallowing or nerve injury can occur.
