Is pain a real thing after Coolsculpting?

Are you a Vivesse Med Spa client?  If you are, you already know that we have all the latest and greatest technologies.  If we do, then how come you can’t get Coolsculpting at Vivesse Med Spa?  After all, you’ve seen all the ads for it.  Freeze your fat and lose inches.  Everyone else has Coolsculpting, why don’t we?

The reason is that there are some dirty little secrets about Coolsculpting and we don’t want you to hurt yourself uncovering those secrets.

Before getting to those secrets, you should know that Coolsculpting isn’t the only technology that busts up fat cells. Coolsculpting breaks up 18 – 21% of your subcutaneous fat.  But all the other technologies break up 18 – 21% of your subcutaneous fat.  Emsculpt does it with electromagnetic energy.  VShape does it with ultrasound energy. SculpSure uses laser energy.  And UltraShape also uses ultrasound energy.

So, there’s no great advantage to Coolsculpting when it comes to fat busting. You want to lose 18 – 21% of your subcutaneous fat; you pay your money, you take your choice. The reason that you’ve heard so much about Coolsculpting is that they’re owned by the biggest company and they can afford a national marketing campaign, including TV ads.

But, here’s the Coolsculpting dirty little secret.

Coolsculpting causes pain. I’m not talking about minor discomfort during the procedure.  All of these technologies cause that.

No, the pain I’m talking about is called delayed onset pain.  Typically, it starts three to five days after treatment.  This is not mild discomfort.  Thisis severe excruciating pain that may require opioid pain medications.  The pain is in the abdomen.  It’s described as ripping, squirming, tearing, deep, stabbing on-shooting pain.  People who get this pain are not happy campers.  They are restless, they can’t sit still, they clutch their abdomen.

It’s not that uncommon.  “It’s estimated between 10 – 15% of people experience moderate to severe pain after Coolsculpting.”  That’s a lot of people with a whole lot of pain.

Typically, the pain subsides after two weeks.  But for some people, the pain lasts indefinitely.  That’s a small minority of people, but if you’re the one who gets it, it might as well be 100%.

And there are a whole host of other annoying Coolsculpting side effects.  These include:

  • Redness
  • Firmness
  • Pinching sensation
  • Swelling
  • Tenderness
  • Bruising
  • Stinging
  • Tingling
  • Numbness
  • Skin sensitivity
  • Muscle cramping

So, given all of these problems – especially the severe delayed onset pain – why would we subject you to Coolsculpting.  We have two other procedures that are just as effective at getting rid of fat and don’t have these problems.  First is Emsculpt.  It uses electromagnetic energy and has the added benefit of toning your abdominal muscles. Second is VShape.  It uses ultrasound and radiofrequency energy.  Its added benefit is that it tightens the skin.  That way, you’re not left with sagging skin once you’ve lost that 18 – 21% of your subcutaneous fat.

Trust us: we really are looking out for you.
