How Do You Get Rid of Cellulite?

God, it’s annoying. Cellulite.  No matter what you do,you can’t get rid of that cottage cheese on your thighs.  Dieting doesn’t work.  No matter how skinny you get, it’s still there.  You tried some tips from Cosmo, butthose were a joke.

You’ve got your hormones to blame.  It’s that nasty old estrogen.  That’s why men don’t get cellulite.

So, is there anything you can do about Cellulite?

We’re going to come to your rescue and tell you that yes, there is.  Modern technology is here for you.

There are only three FDA cleared devices for cellulite treatment.  There are plenty of machines out there that claim that they treat cellulite. Many of them use a combination of suction and massage to decrease the appearance of cellulite temporarily.  Thisis how Velashape and VShapework.  But that only works for two or three months at best.

To understand what reallyworks, you have to understand what cellulite is.  Fibrous bands form small pockets underneath the skin.  Think of them as an array of tiny pots arranged under the skin.  You can fill up a pot with dirt so that the dirt sticks out above the surface.  In the case of cellulite, these little pockets fill upwith fat that bulges out. That’s what gives the dimpled appearance.

If you want to get rid of cellulite, then you have to break up these bands. If you do that the small amount of fat that’s in the area under your skin will form a very thin and continuous layer.  Voila, no cellulite.

All the machines that work for cellulite break up these bands.

Cellulite in the skin

First, there’s Cellfina and Cellulaze.  Each of these work by inserting a blade under the skin and moving it back and forth. The blade cuts the bands and releases the tension that’s pulling down the skin.

Next, there’s Profound. Profound is the machine that we use at Vivesse Med Spa.  It inserts microneedles under the skin’s surface.  These microneedles heat up and break down the fibrous bands.

Even though we use Profound, I am not going to tell you that one of these technologies is superior to the others.  The results of Cellfina and Cellulazeare more dependent on the skill of the practitioner than is Profound. So, if you’re going to have either of thesetreatments, make sure that the operator has plenty of experience under his or her belt. Thisis less of a concern with Profound.
