Overweight? You Are Not Alone

So, you want to lose a few pounds.  Maybe, even more than a few.  If misery loves company, you should feel great around now.

We administer the HCG diet program.  (Shameless plug:  The best weight loss program around.)  Since we’re in the diet world,we wanted to understand attitudes towards weight loss.  In conjunction with Survey Monkey, we surveyed 400 randomly chosen people, asking them questions about weight loss. The bad news is everybody wants to lose weight.  So, don’t feel alone.

Weights have gone up over the years.  In the 1960s the average man weighed 166 pounds.  Now, the average man weighs 198 pounds.  That’s a difference that’s greater than 30 pounds.  For women, the average weight has gone from 140 pounds in 1960 to 171 pounds now.  So, the average woman now weighs more than the average man weighed in 1960.

So, it’s not surprising that our survey showed that 81.5% of people in the US want to lose weight.

On average, people should want to lose 30 pounds to get back to the average weight in the 1960s.  But, in our survey, only one-third of people wanted to lose 30 pounds or more.  I guess people are used to people looking heavier.

Women are more conscious about their weight.  Isn’t it always the case that women care more about their appearance than men?  39% of women want to lose 30 pounds or more, while only 24% of men want to lose that much weight.

48% of people say that weight loss important, very important, or the most important thing in their life.

Two-thirds of Americans have tried weight loss programs.  You may be looking for a program.  You want to be able to shop in a regular shop, not a plus-size shop.  You’re concerned about your health.  Your mobility or exercise tolerance is impaired.

In another post, I’ll tell you what to look for in a weight loss program.  But, one of the most important things is that you have a support system.  Checking in in person, reviewing your food intake once a week with a medical professional is very helpful in avoiding problems and staying on target.  Google weight loss centers in CT, and you’ll get a bunch of places that you can call.

Or, you can give our HCG program a try.  Our average patient loses up to one pound a day.  And your hunger is suppressed.  And you’ll join a community on Facebook.  Call 860-761-6666 to make an appointment.  You’ll see Dr. Greenwald personally as she decides what’s best for you.
