Is it OK to Buy HCG at Rite-Aid?
If you need to lose some pounds and inches fast, the HCG diet is the way to go. You can come to a doctor’s office such as Vivesse Med Spa and get your HCG. But if you go to any of the chain drugstores, you will find HCG sold on the shelves. Is it a good idea for you to buy this HCG and avoid the cost of the program at Vivesse Med Spa?
HCG is a naturally occurring hormone. It is released during pregnancy and is the hormone that you check when you test your urine to see if you’re pregnant.
HCG for weight loss is used in conjunction with a very low-calorie diet. HCG doesn’t cause weight loss. You will lose the same amount of weight on the diet whether or not you are on HCG. The problem is that most diets cause you to lose weight from muscles when what you want is to lose weight from fat stores. You know – buttocks, thighs, abdomen, arms. These are the places that regular diets can’t target. HCG has the unique property of acting as the key that fits into the lock of these fat stores. So, though you will lose the same amount of weight on HCG as if you weren’t on HCG, you will lose it from where you want to lose it when you take HCG.
What about HCG sold at the drugstore? First off, HCG sold over the counter (OTC) is sold in homeopathic doses. These are minuscule doses that are ineffective. The FDA has warned about OTC HCG. This sale of the product is not legally authorized. So, if you buy it at the corner shop you are buying something that the FDA has already told you is ineffective.
To quote from the FDA website: “The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is advising consumers to steer clear of these ‘homeopathic’ human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) weight-loss products.”
Second, HCG is not a one-size-fits-all medication. There are art and science to the administration of HCG. When you come to Vivesse Med Spa, we monitor the effects – good and bad – of the drug. It’s frequently necessary to alter the dosage, either giving more or less of it to you. The drug won’t work without these alterations in dosage. And you need a doctor to make these alterations.
Third, some stores sell HCG as a capsule. This form is totally ineffective. HCG is destroyed by stomach acid. If you take a pill of HCG, none of it gets out of the stomach to the small intestine where it can be absorbed. The HCG, even in homeopathic doses, isn’t doing much for you if it never gets in your body.
The other way to buy over-the-counter HCG is as drops. Most people swallow the drops. In this case, what I said about the HCG being destroyed by the stomach applies.
On the other hand, HCG drops can be administered under the tongue where it is absorbed directly into the bloodstream. This is called sublingual administration. We don’t recommend HCG under the tongue. You need to keep it under your tongue for a long period of time– about 15 minutes. That’s too hard for most people. The HCG starts to leak out and get messy. And like I said before if it doesn’t get in your body, it doesn’t do you any good.
The final reason to not buy HCG over-the-counter is that you don’t know if it’s right for you. There are certain conditions in which you shouldn’t take HCG. Other conditions require medical monitoring while on HCG. A good example is diabetes. Your insulin will have to be adjusted while on HCG. Other chronic conditions require similar monitoring.
